This series of graphite drawings is accomplished on the surface of a Human Skull. Featured are six of my favorite authors of Fiction. Their works lean toward the macabre. Edgar Alan Poe, Shirley Jackson (with nod to F. O’Connor), Clark Ashton Smith, Howard Phillips Lovecraft, Ambrose Bierce, and Mary Shelley.💀🎨⚰️✍️

Coagula

This work of Art is a fine illustrated Human Skull adorned with symbols of the mysteries of the Hermetic Orders.The pyramid and all seeing eye Are wreathed with the words ‘Visita Interiora Terrae Rectificando Invenies Occultum Lapidem’- a reference to the goal of Alchemy. The title of the work is taken from the motto ‘Solve et Coagula’ meaning Dissolve and Coagulate.

Portraits of Benjamin Franklin and George Washington loom largely, surrounded by the Mason’s compass, the number 33 , the crown and symbols of the Rosicrucians, the Bee and the Manticore. 🎨💀🤞🏼👁🐝🌞🌚⚰️🔮
